Property Type: Fine Art and Artefacts Gallery
Location: Mas, Ubud, Bali
Scope of Work: Custom Furniture Design and Artisan Soft Goods
A Creative Collaboration at Tonyraka Gallery explores how authentic art and artifacts from the Indonesian archipelago can be paired with contemporary custom designer furnishings to create vivid environments for living. This collaboration demonstrates how living with art and finely designed furnishings enhances one’s appreciation of both disciplines.
Displayed in a compound of vintage repurposed Javanese Joglo structures at the Tonyraka Gallery, Kamala Home created a series of contemporary designer furniture and cabinetry. These designer pieces mingle impressively among both the modern and primitive curated art and artifacts. A unique range of decorative throw pillows made from Indonesian artisan fabrics adds color and pattern to further define the interior spaces.
The project demonstrates Kamala Home’s approach to custom furniture design and artisan soft goods, creating contemporary pieces that complement and enhance Indonesian art and artifacts. Custom furniture and cabinetry were thoughtfully designed to work within the character of the repurposed Javanese Joglo structures, while artisan fabrics introduced additional color, texture, and pattern.
The result is a distinctive creative environment where contemporary furniture design, Indonesian art and artifacts, traditional architecture, and artisan craftsmanship come together in a cohesive and expressive setting at Tonyraka Gallery in Mas, Ubud, Bali.
