Mozaic Lounge & Bar Chef extraordinaire, Chris Salans, wanted to provide an enhanced and stylish lounge and bar environment within his critically acclaimed restaurant. The space was designed so that guests could decompress over cocktails and conversation as they arrived. Intimate and comfortable privacy-seating-zones were created to accommodate couples or larger parties.
The fresh ingredients of the food inspired the spice-tone color palette including cinnamon, paprika, saffron, ginger, turmeric and others. A decidedly contemporary and playful Indonesian ambiance was created utilizing Balinese and Javanese artifacts and crafts juxtaposed with bold contemporary furnishings. Residential in feel and regional in scope, the Lounge & Bar offers stylish panache for the foodie set.
The restaurant interior design focused on creating a comfortable and flexible lounge environment where thoughtful seating arrangements could accommodate both intimate gatherings and larger groups. Careful space planning helped define distinct privacy seating zones while maintaining a natural connection with the wider restaurant environment.
Custom furniture, custom upholstery, and custom lighting were integrated throughout the lounge and bar to enhance both comfort and atmosphere. The combination of contemporary furnishings with Balinese and Javanese artifacts and crafts created a distinctive hospitality interior that reflects the cultural character of Ubud while maintaining a sophisticated and contemporary aesthetic.
The design approach demonstrates Kamala Home’s experience in hospitality interior design and restaurant design in Bali, combining spatial planning, bespoke furniture, tactile upholstery, lighting, and locally inspired decorative elements to create memorable dining environments.
The result is a refined restaurant lounge and bar interior in Ubud, Bali, balancing contemporary furnishings with Indonesian cultural references, warm spice-inspired tones, intimate seating zones, and carefully considered details to create a stylish yet relaxed hospitality environment.
