Siam Sally restaurant brought a home-style Thai cuisine to a main street tourist destination. The restaurant featured casual dining set within an imaginative recreated Thai shophouse environment. The two-story restaurant allowed for lively bistro-style dining and cocktails on the ground floor with the upper floor loft offering a supper-club vibe.
Thai decor and service ware were sourced at the Bangkok Chatuchak weekend market. Custom suspended lantern lighting was fabricated and hung from the double-height stairway void.
Rusticated wood paneling was invigorated with vintage Thai black-and-white framed photographs of Bangkok. Contemporary teak furnishings, textured upholstery, and Thai lacquer pieces all combined to create an inviting and visually stunning environment.
The restaurant interior design focused on transforming the existing space into an immersive Thai-inspired dining environment while maintaining a relaxed and casual atmosphere. The full gut renovation included thoughtful seating floorplan and space planning to organize the two-story restaurant and create distinct dining experiences across the ground floor and upper-level loft.
Custom furniture, custom upholstery, and custom lighting were carefully integrated into the design. Contemporary teak furnishings and textured upholstery complemented the vintage-look wood panelling, while custom suspended lanterns became a distinctive architectural feature within the double-height stairway void.
The design combines Thai cultural references with contemporary hospitality design, using sourced Thai décor, service ware, vintage Bangkok photography, Thai lacquer pieces, and carefully selected materials to create an authentic yet contemporary restaurant environment in Ubud, Bali.
