Property Type: Residential Villa on a Golf Course Bluff
Location: Palm Springs, California, USA
Scope of Work: Interior Design, Custom Furnishings, Art and Artifacts Curation
The Palm Springs Desert Villa serves as the fall-and-winter desert hang-out for our New York City Client. Set within a private golf course community, the 1970s-era home needed an interior refresh to suit our young mover-and-shaker Client. He was drawn to the mid-century architecture and interiors so prevalent in the Palm Springs DNA.
Influenced by the irreverence and energy of the Hollywood “Rat Pack” era, the Client wanted a contemporary reinterpretation of mid-century modern design in his furnishings. Anchoring the living room is a custom-made, expansive teak-framed lounge sofa with chrome legs, offering plenty of attitude. The Client’s one request was to tone down the camp and dial up the sophistication of his mid-century-inspired abode.
The interior design focused on refreshing the existing residence while preserving the character of its mid-century architecture. Custom furnishings were introduced to complement the home’s Palm Springs aesthetic, while carefully curated art and artifacts added personality and a distinctive sense of place.
The result is a sophisticated desert residence that balances the playful spirit of Palm Springs with a more refined interpretation of mid-century modern living.
