Villa Sankara is located on a private expansive beachfront with spectacular views of the Indian Ocean. The tropical modern architecture was softened with the introduction of Balinese and Javanese vintage-inspired contemporary furnishings juxtaposed with modern pieces, all made from old teakwood. Oversized and moody art photography and mural panels add a crisp modern contrast.
The interiors are quiet and reflective, celebrating the surrounding natural elements of water, driftwood, sand, seafoam, and sky. A nod to tropical Dutch colonial antiques creates a subtle and refined accent, all enveloped in the casually stylish room settings of this extraordinary beach retreat.
The extensive villa renovation focused on enhancing the existing tropical modern architecture while creating a more refined and cohesive interior environment. Custom furnishings in old teakwood, carefully selected finishes, and curated decorative elements were introduced to complement the beachfront setting and the villa’s distinctive architectural character.
